APH Expands Android GPS Offerings with Free Nearby Explorer Online

The American Printing House for the Blind has released a free version of its Nearby Explorer GPS app for Android.
Nearby Explorer Online includes some of the features of its $99 counterpart but uses online instead of on-board maps. This means that a data connection is required to use the app, though it does have the advantage of working worldwide. It also includes transit stop info for many cities in the United States and Canada, the ability to create favorites, and a virtual exploration mode.
Nearby Explorer Online works on Android 2.3 and up and can be installed alongside the regular Nearby Explorer if desired. You can download it now from Google Play. You can browse the documentation from APH.
