VarioUltra Firmware Fixes Major Bug That Prevented it from Connecting to Several Devices at Once

If you have a VarioUltra from Baum, the latest free update fixes some major bugs. Version 1.32 allows you to once again connect to more than two Bluetooth devices at once, one of the major selling points for the unit. A limitation that only allowed for up to two Apple devices to be connected via Bluetooth has also been removed. Check below for the complete list of changes and bug fixed in this release. Thanks to Rich for the tip.

VarioUltra firmware 1.32 is released. Download it at http://www.baumusa.com/support/varioultra.html

Changes in Version 1.32:

  1. Braille Display Mode now allows for more than 2 (maximum is 4) Bluetooth devices being connected simultaneously. Version 1.31 prevented users from connecting with more than 2 Bluetooth devices. Thankfully this issue is now fixed, and connecting with the maximum 4 Bluetooth devices is once again possible. In our own tests, we have connected simultaneously via Bluetooth to an iPhone, an iPad Mini, a Macbook computer, and a Windows PC. It works great.

  2. Braille Display Mode now supports connection of more than 2 Apple devices. This applies to Mac OS X and iOS devices. Testing of all earlier versions found that VarioUltra could not connect to more than two Apple devices – Mac OS X or iOS. With the fix in v1.32, you can now have 3 Apple devices paired and connected simultaneously.

  3. When charging the battery while the device is in suspend mode, VarioUltra reliably detects a full battery (100%) and the transition to trickle charge mode. When waking up from suspend mode and checking the battery, the status message is now correct.

  4. VarioUltra no longer crashes when pressing the power button together with another button. In previous versions, the system crashed and could not be switched on again.
