The VFO group has released Magic version 14, bringing several updates to the software. Improvements include upgraded Vocalizer Voices, updates to Mouse Echo, the introduction of audio ducking, and speech improvements to Office 2016.
With version 14.0, Magic now supports all of the Vocalizer 2.0 voices, just like JAWS 18 does. The newer version of the TTS engine also adds some support for several languages not previously offered including: Bengali India, Bhojpuri India, Bulgarian, Croatian, Kannada, Spanish Chilean, Tamil, Telugu, and Valencian.
Version 14 of Magic brings enhancements to the Mouse Echo in the form of 2 more point and speak options. Now, the user can hold their mouse over a character and have it spoken. The same is also now true with the speaking of an entire paragraph. TO read a paragraph, hold the mouse on the paragraph, and then press Insert+Spacebar, E, P. Speaking of keyboard commands and the mouse pointer, pressing Insert+Spacebar, followed by E for mouse echo, and then specify L for line, C for Character, W for word, or ? for help will get you the appropriate result.
As mentioned above, Audio Ducking is now an option with Magic. Users of Office 2016 should also notice improvements in the speech output of Magic. Though the release notes don't specify details, it does indicate additional ARIA support for Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome.
Magic 14 is an upgrade which requires an SMA For details on this, please see the Upgrade and Software Maintenance Agreements Page where you can enter your serial number to determine if you have a SMA for this version.
