VFO, owners of Ai Squared, Freedom Scientific, Optelec, and The Paciello Group has now acquired Enhanced Vision, a company known for making video magnifiers.
This continues a string of acquisitions for VFO. You can read about their acquisition of AI Squared in 2016, and the Paciello Group in 2017. It is currently unclear how or if their lineup will change, given the similarities between Freedom Scientific's, Optelec, and Enhanced Vision's existing magnifiers.
According to a press release, "VFO develops products both hardware and software in cooperation with end-users. Innovation is important to us and we always strive for the best solution. Our team has extensive knowledge and years of experience in the field of assistive technology. With our solutions, we enable users to gain an education, obtain employment, succeed in professional careers, and live independently throughout their lives. Our products are represented in more than 70 countries."
In 2009, Freedom Scientific sued Enhanced Vision for trademark infringement.
after the acquisition of AI Squared's Window eyes, the company discontinued the program, after determining that JAWS met the needs of its users better. It is unclear whether to expect a similar situation here. VFO has to this point kept the Optelec and Freedom Scientific magnifier lines intact.
