#CSUNATC17: NeoBraille Will have Lots of Skills Other Notetakers Won't

ElBraille isn't the only product that has undergone changes and hopes to be available soon after showcasing at CSUN. NeoeAccess is back with a new flavor for the NeoBraille. originally announced just prior to CSUN last year, the device was running on Android and was going to be sold by Irie-At in the U.S. The Irie-At Twitter account has been sending out tweets teasing an announcement, which is now here.

It will have full integration with Alexa Amazon's voice-based platform which is featured on the Echo. While it will not have support for a wake word, the NeoBraille will have a button to activate for access to Alexa, much like Amazon's tap Bluetooth speaker. Additionally, while it will not have Google Play support, their tweets further state that there will be access to the Amazon App Store.

According to Irie-At's Twitter timeline, shipping is hoped to begin in April. According to the NeoBraile web page, the specifications are the same as what was announced in 2016 with regard to hardware and the $4995 price tag. It's worth mentioning that "full integration" would mean that all of Amazon's services would be coming to the NeoBraille including voice shopping for Prime users, Amazon Music Unlimited, and the more than 10 thousand Skills now Available on the Alexa platform. We'll definitely scope this out at the conference and report back if we learn more.

So for 5 grand, you can have a device that's roughly equivalent to the $65 Kindle Fire 7. Woohoo! Yeah, right.
