When it comes to jerky, there’s a wide range of available tastes. Some cuts are tender while others are more brittle. While some cuts offer a spicy flavor, others present themselves as more mild. We were both delighted and satisfied as we indulged on our sample of Texas Best Thick Cut Beef Jerky from jerky.com.
Two flavors are available: the original and hot & spicy. We tried the latter first, which came in a four ounce sealed package. We found the jerky to possess just the right amount of tenderness. It has a kick for someone who’s not accustomed to spices, but we didn’t find the taste to be prohibitively hot. That being said, the jerky was quite juicy with much flavor in the meat. They seemed to have just the right amount of chewiness, though some pieces were more tender than others. The package contained approximately five pieces, which was enough for a quick snack for three people.
The original package exhibited the same consistency and was still juicy and flavorful. It seemed a bit drier, but this was perhaps because of the lack of spices and probably the intension of the producers. The package was quite similar and also contained about five strips of jerky.
Overall, we preferred the spicier jerky for its enhanced flavor, but were quite satisfied with both. For less than $2 per ounce including shipping, it’s definitely worth the price.
