Now, here’s J.J. Meddaugh.

J.J.: We’re here with Cory Hanosh. He is a Senior Consultant for Aumed – Aumed who does all sorts of magnifiers and has some new products they’re introducing here at CSUN. Welcome to our podcast.

CH: Thank you very much. Great to be here.

J.J.: Cory, tell me what we have here.

CH: Right now, we’re looking at our new, our latest desktop CCTV. It’s called LaView.

J.J.: LaView.

CH: L-a-V-i-e-w, LaView. It comes with a 22 inch monitor. It’s a full HD camera. What Aumed really wanted to do was convert all of their CCTVs over to high definition, but maintain the affordability of the products that they’ve been accustomed to, our customers have been. So what they do is with this 22 inch HD unit, it’s $2,395, and it’s not a stripped down version.

So you get full color contrast, any color mode that you want. It is programmable, so there’s a total of eight color contrasts that you can get. Magnification from 1.5x up to 79x, just like everybody else. Over 30 doesn’t really matter for the customer because you’re not going to get a whole lot of text across the screen, but again, we have to play the spec game with everybody. Does have line markers and masking available. You don’t have to purchase an advanced feature pack. $2,395 gets you a nice form factor with a 22 inch monitor.

J.J.: So let’s look at this. You have the monitor sitting on, and then below it…

CH: We have the controls on the monitor. There’s three buttons; the center dial is your magnification, and if you –

J.J.: And it kind of clicks when you turn it.

CH: Yep. And if you push that, that becomes your line markers and masking, so it cycles right through that.

J.J.: Sure. We do have an XY table underneath.

CH: Absolutely. It’s a standard platform, XY table, brake in front. Slide it across, and it will stop the XY table from moving.

J.J.: Okay. I’m sorry, back to the top here – what are the other two buttons?

CH: The one on the right is actually your color contrast, so you click that around and it will change the different color modes.

J.J.: Yep, it has, like you said, eight different ones, so it clicks for each one.

CH: Yep. And then the one on the left is your contrast, so your brightness button. You can spin that to do your brightness.

J.J.: And you can press that one too?

CH: Yeah, that actually will take the camera either manual focus or auto focus, so it helps with that. And then that’ll also help with your line markers and masking the adjustment of that as well.

J.J.: You said this is a 22 inch version?

CH: 22 inch.

J.J.: And there are others?

CH: No, we’ve gone in with just a standard 22 at the $2,395 price.

J.J.: Got you. Do you feel that’s one of your – you know, there’s a ton of these products out there; do you feel that’s one of your biggest differentiators there, is price, then, and the features for the price?

CH: I think with Aumed, yeah, that’s what they really wanted to do, is make the product more affordable for those people that just can’t get over that $3,000 price point and agencies that really want to maximize their funding dollars, and able to help more people with that money.

J.J.: You’re talking about converting the entire line to HD, so are there more going to be coming out in the near future?

CH: We do have our standard LookStation that is available in HD now as well. The main difference with that one is you can get a 22 or a 24 inch monitor option. It’s also on an articulating arm as opposed to the LaView is a tiltable screen only.

J.J.: Okay, great. If people want to get more information about the LaView, how can they do that?

CH: They can call us directly at (877) 204-9958 or they can visit us on the web at aumedgroup.com.

J.J.: Thank you so much.

CH: You bet. Thank you.
