I recently upgraded to the iPad Air 2, and with upgrades comes the need for yet another case. There are some cool case designs on the market, but I really wasn't interested in spending $50 to $100 on a case for a device that I'd likely only have for the next year or two. I wanted an affordable case that would still offer basic protection for my tablet. Turns out, the $11.99 iPad Air 2 case from Fintie fit the bill.
The case is constructed of some sort of leathery material, though at 12 bucks, I assume It's not real leather. That being said, the outside has a smooth gloss to the touch, with a fair amount of padding to protect the device. The case has a simple flip design, and opens like the front cover of a book. Opening the case will wake up the iPad and place you on the lock screen, negating the need to press the power button.
There is ample room around the various buttons and ports on the unit, making it easy to get to the lightning connector or headphone jack. As for the screen, the leather-like material covers the edges of the screen so that the exposed area is all part of the screen. This actually makes it a bit easier to find specific locations such as the status bar, as the icons are flush with the top edge of the screen where it meets the case. Since the top of the screen is not protected, you might consider a screen protector, such as the $25 SpeedDots Tactile Screen Protector for the iPad Air sold at A T Guys.
I found the build quality exceeded my expectations, especially for a case that was less than 12 bucks. I've seen other models which have a small elastic band which holds the case shut, which is one small feature I wish this model included. There's a lot of cheaper quality cases available for your phone or tablet, and this is just one example. In part, this review serves to demonstrate that one need not pay $50 to $100 for a case for their phone or tablet, as there are a variety of affordable and serviceable options available.
