Blind Bargains Podcast Submission Guidelines

Blind Bargains is always looking for audio submissions for the Blind Bargains Qast. If you're thinking of recording something for the show, here are some general guidelines to consider.

Submissions should be concise and to the point. We recommend that tips and short pieces be under 3 minutes in length, with app and hardware reviews generally no more than 10 minutes, often less.

Record in a quiet room or area. Turn off fans, close doors, and eliminate outside noise as much as possible.

Record using the highest quality audio format possible. We prefer all submissions in .WAV or .FLAC format. Ask for recommendations if necessary.
iOS users might try List Recorder.

If your demo includes text-to-speech, slow it down so that a new user would be able to understand it. It doesn't need to be insanely slow, but an iPhone at 50 percent or an Android at Fast is suitable. Try to make sure your speaking volume and TTS volume are equal or similar. Try not to talk over your phone or computer if possible. Alternatively, if you are able, record a stereo track with TTS on one speaker and your voice on the other.

Do not, ever ever, distort or clip your microphone. If you're talking too close to your mic, it will distort and become unlistenable. We recommend creating a test recording first so you can hear how it sounds. If you're unsure, feel free to send that over to us.

Include your full name at the beginning of the recording. Feel free to give a quick plug for your website, blog, or Twitter at the end.

Remember to be concise. If you're reviewing an app, show off a couple of the main features and talk about the high and/or low points of the app. We don't generally need to hear every screen and how it's laid out.

All aired submissions become the property of Blind Bargains and may be used on future shows. We don't intend to have control over how you use your own audio however. We do kindly ask that material submitted to us is not submitted to other podcasts without permission, in order to keep our content fresh.

If you have any questions, please send us a message.
