BrailleNote Touch Now Shipping at $5,495

You may have read our original post announcing the BrailleNote Touch. Many of you listened to our interview with Greg Stilson about the BrailleNote Touch at CSUN 2016. Perhaps you listened to the free audio tutorial on the BrailleNote Touch.
Now you can order the BrailleNote Touch which is now shipping. As expected, it's available now for $5,495, the same price as the BrailleNote Apex. For now, the Touch is available in a single configuration with 32 braille cells and a braille keyboard. One could use a USB or Bluetooth keyboard if typing in braille was not their thing.

Speaking of the Apex,it's still listed on the site for the same $5,495 price in case you would rather buy an older piece of technology for the same price. The VoiceNote Apex at $1,995 and 18-cell Apex for $3,895 may be an option for some, while the 32-cell Apex is available in a QWERTY keyboard version which the Touch is not. Be aware, however, that the Apex will likely not receive many updates from this point forward as the focus will be to add new features to the BrailleNote Touch. From everything I saw on this product, the BrailleNote touch is an interesting product. I do wonder if it would be a big seller though. The fact that it is running android is a plus, but the price is a major drawback. Will it draw users of such devices into the android type devices, or will the touch screen scare them away. Then again, the keyboard thing that they have with it may help some. I can see this in a possible education setting, but I can’t see myself getting this instead of an android device. I may be missing something though. The design is interesting enough that I wish I could get my hands on one for a while to play with. I also wonder if it will go the same way as the Braille plus 18. Anyway, I guess I will set back and watch to see how big of a seller this product is. Anyway, the BrailleNote touch has been talked about on the audiogames.net site.

Forget it. I've got an iPad. I've got a Smart Beetle. Total price of that is 1/3 of what these people want. They're crazy.
