On Friday, HIMS released version 2.0 for the Blaze,it's newest line of DAISY and multi-media players. According to the release notes, this update improves the speed of text input, improves the speed when opening ePub files, allows for the text to speech to go faster and added several streaming formats to the Web Radio, among many other enhancements. There were also several new features introduced with the latest firmware of both the Blaze EZ and ET.
Among the new features is the ability to now open an PDF file with images on the Blaze and have the unit recognize text from that image. There is now also a continuous scan function which works like its counterpart on other scanning applications, which will come in handy for scanning of materials that have multiple pages. The Blaze also now supports a feature similar to what is found in the "field of view report" with KNFB reader, which allows you to determine if the content you are scanning is aligned correctly. HIMS has also added the ability to search for podcast feeds in a web directory and then subscribe to them. HIMS has also added a menu option called the "program menu" to many of its applications which provides access to the most commonly used functions of that application. Try it out by pressing the "select" button.
Version 2.0 is a free upgrade for owners of the Blaze EZ and ET players and includes many changes not listed in this article. Please see the source link for more detailed information and instructions on how to upgrade.

I still don't see any Audible support. What kind of book device doesn't support the top dog provider of commercial online audio books? Deal breaker, for sure.
