While we regularly see apps get ported over from iOS to Android, it's rare the opposite occurs. One such occurrence is APH's Nearby Explorer which is now live in the iOS App Store. Having a brief look at the Manual for iOS, and also a read through of the manual for Android, it appears that many of the same features appear in both versions.
The price for both the Android and iOS editions is $79.95, as of the time of this writing. Unlike the Android version, which supports versions of Android back to 2.3, the iOS version requires iOS 9.0. Both apps require around 4 GB (3.7 on Android and 4.2 on iOS), so users may wish to be aware of this fact before purchasing. It's also worth noting that there appears to not be an option to only install certain maps. For those outside the U.S. and Canada, Nearby Explorer for iOS is not yet an option.
The Blind Geek Zone, has published a favorable podcast of the iOS version which weighs some of the advantages and disadvantages of Nearby Explorer when compared with other iOS apps.

This does sound like an app I should get within the next few months. Hopefully, the price doesn't go up. I wish I could pick and choose the maps I want though. Maybe a possible update in the future? Anyway, I can see why someone would want all of the maps. Not having to load up a map before heading out is a really good reason to have them all on the phone, but the down side is all of the space they take up. Anyway, I think I will go find out what the differences are. The Blind Geek Zone will be my first stop. I do wonder how the updating of maps are handled, but that is a question that can weight a sec or two. Having a good idea what the app can and can’t do is my top priority before I even think of getting it.

Now, this is nice. It's the one app I really missed coming from Android, and now I've got it. So far, looks like functionality is on par with the Android version. Glad I bought it, and glad APH finally ported it.

This works great, even in Canada. Whether in the suburbs or downtown (GPS issue with tall buildings does occur). Finally an all in one app that is excellent and versatile.
