The makers of Hiarchy, a mindmapping app soon to enter beta in July, have made their app accessible to blind and visually impaired individuals and are seeking testers when the app officially enters beta in the next few months.
According to the creator,
The App is called Higherarchy, and it makes mindmapping (and concept mapping) more efficient for visually impaired users by utilizing vectors graphics (so less visually impaired users can zoom in on text as much as they need) and inbuilt text to speech for the fully visually impaired/blind. The key innovation is that you can navigate every node (I.e. every point) on the mindmap with your keyboard, and it will read out the content automatically, meaning you can follow all the paths and subtopics of a subject intuitively.
The creator goes on to specify that the web app is navigable through keyboard commands both with and without the use of external screen reading software. The app is going to be launched at a freemium model, though accessibility features will never be paid. Beta testers will be offered premium features for free in exchange for their time, with other payment via crowdsourcing being explored and considered.
