When accessibility news makes the mainstream blog circuit, you know it's big. While it would have been easy to link to one of our friends, we've chosen this blog from Matt Clair, one of many to comment on the new accessibility now available in the free iTunes 8. The latest version works with Apple's VoiceOver screen reading software, available on newer Mac computers. Furthermore, users of the just-released Window-Eyes 7.0 Beta 3 can benefit from the same usability improvements. While iTunes is often viewed as an entertainment tool, it's worth noting the newly-created accessibility for iTunesU. This service allows universities to distribute content such as lectures, class presentations, and additional course materials to their students. Previously, blind and visually impaired students lacked access to this often vital information. This is a nice welcome back present for students and a long-overdue improvement for the more entertainment-minded as well.
