A Lighter, Quieter, Cheaper Perkins Brailler

Amidst all of the updates of technology products, it's often easy to forget about one of the first access devices for the blind, the Perkins Brailler. This classic device is receiving a much-needed makeover, and even costs less than its older cousin. The new model, available exclusively through the American Printing House through next spring, includes a lighter design, an easy erase mode, better margin guides, and quieter noise levels. Beginners will be able to braille using less force, making it great for kids. The price is also only $650, $40 less than the classic model. Shipments to the United States begin in November.
