Accessible Hamilton Beach 3-in-1 Hot-Beverage Center for $34.99 Shipped

We continue to look for appliances which are accessible, either by accident or design.
Amazon.com has the Hamilton Beach 3-in-1 Hot-Beverage Center in Black for $34.99. Plus, shipping is free. This machine makes single-serve coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or hot water. With no buttons or controls, this machine is quite usable by the blind and was successfully used by blind members of our staff. Read on for a more detailed description. Place your coffee grounds, tea bags, or other items in the top of the machine. Then, fill the included container with as much water as you'd like in your beverage. Start the machine and your drink will start to pour out in your container of choice, providing you with a hot beverage in about two minutes. The water reservoir has markings which are not raised, but with a bit of trial and error, it's easy to figure out how much to put in the machine. The unit also works with Senseo Pods, which are premeasured drinks such as coffee, cappuccino, or Espresso. It includes an auto shut-off mechanism which powers down the machine once all of your drink has been poured. Please send us your suggestions of other accessible kitchen appliances.

Does it need the paper-type filters, or is it designed with a built-in filter that can be rinsed/washed? Thanks! What a neat sounding machine!

It doesn't need filters, though some use them when doing coffee to avoid a bit of stuff at the bottom of the glass. Read the reviews on the Amazon page.
