Vinux 3.0, an accessible bootable version of Linux, has been released. It bundles several popular open-source screen readers and magnifiers including Orca and Speakup into a single package which can be set up by someone without much technical experience. It's based on Ubuntu 10.04 and also includes support for USB braille displays. Here's a link to the download page.

Vinux is a truly great OS. A lot of work has been done to make the user experience a good one, and the attention to detail shows. I use Vinux full time. I was using Ubuntu, and the accessibility is good there, but Vinux has been polished so that from start up to shut down the accessibility features just work. There is no more need to do all administration from the command line although it can still be done from there if you wish.

I couldn't agree more. I've spent years fighting with Ubuntu; audio sometimes works, sometimes fails. Orca works great sometimes, then some update breaks it. Vinux just worked without hassle.
