The Starbucks Braille Giftcard Will Now Be Available Permanently

Some people feel that you only give a gift card to someone because you really don't know what to buy them. I think though that you are saying that you know they like a particular brand or company, but you want them to pick out what they buy. The problem with most gift cards though is that there is no way for a blind person to know what business the gift card is for unless they use an app like TapTapSee or have sighted assistance. In 2011, Starbucks came out with the first gift card to have braille on it. Sadly, they made the card only available during the fall, so if you planned on buying your blind friends a Starbucks gift card any other time of the year, you wouldn't have access to the braille version. Today Starbucks announced that they are going to have the braille gift card available year round. I hope that other companies follow their lead and make identifying gift cards much easier for those of us who can't see.
