It is no secret in the blind and visually impaired community that unemployment is one of our biggest group challenges. To help combat the high rate of unemployment in the blind and visually impaired community, Aira has recently introduced the Aira employment program.
All tasks related to employment or job searching will no longer count against your plan minutes beginning on Tuesday February 20. Some examples of tasks that will fall under this umbrella include navigating to employment sites, filling out applications, building resumes, and traveling to and from meetings with prospective employers. In addition, the first 100 Aira explorers to secure job interviews, transportation to or from these interviews will be covered through Aira and their partnership with Lyft.
If you'd like to watch the full announcement, including guest speakers Kirk Adams, President and CEO of The American Foundation for the Blind, Mark Riccobono, President and CEO of the National Federation of the Blind, San Diego City Councilmember Barbara Bry. Sassy Outwater-Wright, Director of the Massachusetts Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired, Aira s CEO, Suman Kanuganti and VP of Customer Experience, Amy Bernal, and described by Aira agent andrew, you can listen to the recording of the event here
