The latest version of Mazilla's Firefox browser introduces new global zoom options and a new backplate option for those using Windows high contrast mode.
Firefox has had a long-standing feature enabling low vision users to zoom an individual web page, but the most recent release introduces a global zoom feature enabling users to set a default global zoom across all web pages.
Global zoom can be found in about:preferences>language, and allows users to zoom up or down from the 100% default. The preexisting individual site zoom is still available for sites that require settings different than the default.
For those low vision users who use Windows high contrast mode, Firefox 73 introduces a new backplate option. In previous versions of Firefox, enabling high contrast mode in windows would disable background images. Now, a new readability option "places a block of background color between the text and background image", enabling low vision users to continue to access background images.
