Nippon Telesoft, makers of the Seika 40-cell braille display sold in the U.S. by Perkins Products, has debuted two new models which are both scheduled to come stateside this summer. The Seika version 4 includes the previously-mentioned bluetooth support and a built-in battery, meaning it can be charged from the USB port. The battery for the bluetooth module itself, however, is not housed in the unit and hangs off to the side via a USB dongle. Meanwhile, the Seika 80 will also make its debut soon with a price of under $5,000. The unit is a rather long device because of the 80 cells, but is quite narrow. Expected release for both is July 4, according to Perkins.

The Question is will this use a HID Driver, so that way it will work with SA. Other wise it is pointless to buy one.

This is excellent news. Even with the dongle another affordable Braille display solution will be most welcome. Now if only they interacted well with System Access.

You have a weird definition of affordable. These things still cost 3x as much as your typical computer. Maybe it's affordable if $5k is throw-away money to you, but that's hardly the case with the majority of the world's population whether they be blind or not. What I'd care about: Will it work with BRLTTY for Linux support and NVDA, not to mention will it work with OS X?
