NVDA 2010.2 Beta Improves Flash, Firefox, Object Navigation, and More

A lot has changed in the latest beta release for NVDA, the free screen reader. Rather than paraphrase, we'll just post the list of changes from the official NVDA blog. Notable features of NVDA 2010.2 include greatly simplified object navigation; virtual
buffers for Adobe Flash content; access to many previously inaccessible controls
by retrieving text written to the screen; flat review of screen text; support for
IBM Lotus Symphony documents; reporting of table row and column headers in Mozilla
Firefox; and significantly improved user documentation. The new version is available now.

It's seriously impressive work. I've been using NVDA for several months now via the snapshot builds, and it's amazing how much 2010.1 couldn't do that NVDA now can. A new release is, imho, exactly what they've been needing as most users who are interested in using it don't want to run development code, and the 2010.1 release doesn't even hold a candle to the current state of things. I honestly think NVDA with Firefox offers the best, no contest, web browsing experience with a screen reader on the market today even over Apple's Voiceover which works pretty well.
