Ask The Readers: The Future of the Blind Bargains Access Awards

For the past five years, Blind Bargains and its fans have chosen the best and brighest in the industry during the Blind Bargains Access Awards. And now that we've reached a half decade of these awards, we feel it's time to make some changes.
Our major goals are to recognize the best products and services without turning the competition into a big popularity contest, a tendency which has increased over the past couple of years. We want to balance the get out the vote movement while maintaining a contest that picks its winners with integrity. So, we're asking you for your input on how to improve the Access Awards. Currently, the process is split into two rounds, an open nomination period where anyone can nominate companies and services and a voting round where up to five nominees in each category are put up for a vote. So what would you do? Or would you keep the current system in place for 2012? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

I would keep things as they are, it is up to each voter to keep individual integrity and motivation. Thanks for desiring our input.

I would add one step to the process. Allow the open nominations, and the open popularity vote, but then, allow a carefully selected unbiased panel of judges to make the final determination. They should work from a criteria of which the popular vote is only one criterion.
